Eden's Curse Biography
Daring to be different!

In late August 2007 the Rock and Metal world witnessed the birth of Eden's Curse, a multi-national Melodic Metal group with its members spanning four countries and two continents. Formed in January 2006 by chief songwriter and Bassist, Scotsman Paul Logue (David Readman / Cry Havoc) and United States born and bred Vocalist Michael Eden (Seven Ten), these two musicians hatched a plan to form a group utilizing the wonders of modern technology and in particular the world wide web. Armed with nothing but passion, spirit and an uncompromising batch of hyper rock songs they found German guitar virtuoso Thorsten Koehne (Code Of Perfection / Demon Drive / Attack) and English Drummer Pete Newdeck (Steve Grimmett Band / Paul Dianno’s Killers / Lionsheart / The Shock), before experienced German keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg (Axel Rudi Pell / Rough Silk / Therion / Taraxacum / Uli Jon Roth) completed the line-up in June 2006.

With heavy weights such as producer and Pink Cream 69 bassist Dennis Ward (Angra / Krokus / House Of Lords / Michael Kiske / Allen & Lande) secured at the production helm and band colleague David Readman (Pink Cream 69 / Voodoo Circle / Adagio), as well as Doogie White (Rainbow / Yngwie Malmsteen / Cornerstone / Empire / Tank) and Carsten Schulz (Evidence One / Roger Staffalbach’s Angel Of Eden / Midnite Club / Domain) on backing vocals, in their corner, the group signed to AFM Records (Europe), Metal Mayhem Music (USA), Spiritual Beast (Japan) and Dynamo Records (Brazil) and their album not only burst but more like exploded onto the scene in late August 2007 to critical acclaim.

The group faired extremely well in the 2007 end of year votes throughout the global Rock & Metal press with the highlights being voted Best Newcomer of 2007 by the Readers of RockUnited.Com, Best Metal/Prog Album 2007 by MelodicRock.com and Thorsten Koehne being awarded Guitarist of the Year 2007, also by MelodicRock.com.

In June 2008 the band released a limited edition rare E.P. Seven Deadly Sins – The Acoustic Sessions via their US label Metal Mayhem Music. Featuring seven renditions of tracks from the acclaimed debut in a laid back MTV-Unplugged type setting. The E.P. is quickly becoming a collector’s item amongst Eden's Curse followers.

Fast forward four months later and Eden's Curse made an unexpected, yet triumphant, return with their sophomore release The Second Coming.

Once again production duties were handled by Dennis Ward as the band truly "upped the ante" in terms of song writing, performance and production. With guest appearances from Tony Harnell, the voice of TNT, and Pamela Moore, best known for her performance as Sister Mary on the 1988 worldwide smash hit Operation: Mindcrime by Queensrÿche, The Second Coming was seen by many to be a real stepping stone for the band that built upon the foundations laid by the debut. The sheer strength of the album had many in the industry claiming the arrival of Eden's Curse as force truly to be reckoned with!

The power metal anthem Angels & Demons, where Michael Eden duets with the sultry Pamela Moore, became an internet smash hit which reached over 230,000 unique plays on the bands MySpace and received even more lavish praise and airplay from Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson on his BBC Radio Rock Show.

Following on from the success of Angels & Demons the group released their first promotional video of the track which has receieved over 28,000 unique plays on YouTube.

In February 2009 the band were nominated by the UK’s largest Music publication Classic Rock Magazine as one of their coveted Bands to Watch For in 2009. Classic Rock scribe Dave Ling enthused “If, like Classic Rock, you still hanker for the days when hard-rock bands wrote fantastic, soaraway choruses and backed them with iron-clad melodies, then it's high time you met Eden's Curse”.

From the studio to the stage.

IIn May 2009 Eden's Curse achieved their primary goal, which was to take the band from the studio to the stage. They headed off on a six date UK & Irish tour as opening band for Finnish Power Metal legends Stratovarius and Greek Melodic Metallers Firewind, the band led by Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G. The tour was a roaring success for the group who received excellent audience reactions each and every night and met many old and new fans.

In June 2009 the group parted company with original keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg and appointed experienced Italian musician Alessandro Del Vecchio (Glenn Hughes / Ian Paice / Moonstone Project / Edge Of Forever) as his replacement.

Del Vecchio made his live debut with Eden's Curse when the band headlined the Sophie Lancaster stage on the final day of renowned UK Metal festival Bloodstock Open Air 2009.

In December 2009 the band toured the UK with Scottish Pirate Metallers Alestorm and The Rotted and appeared at the Hard Rock Hell III festival to round off a superb year of touring.

The group spent the majority of 2010 in the studio writing and recording their third album Trinity, however they took some time out to make their live debut on US soil with an appearance at MelodicRockFest 2, near Chicago, alongside Y&T, Winger and Danger Danger to name but a few.

In March 2011 they released their third studio album Trinity which is packed with all their traditional trademarks, and is arguably the most powerful sounding Eden's Curse record to date. It also marked the bands recorded debut with new keyboard player Alessandro Del Vecchio.

Eden's Curse 2011 - New album, new line-up!

As has become accustomed with each Eden's Curse release the band have once again recruited some outstanding guest vocalists to appear on Trinity - and this time they have truly outdone themselves. Duetting with Michael Eden on the epic Melodic Metal anthem No Holy Man is none other than Dream Theater vocalist James LaBrie. Also contributing backing vocals to the whole album LaBrie enthused: “In 2010 I was fortunate to discover Eden's Curse. I absolutely love this band. Great players and people and they deserve nothing but huge success! They belong with the best of today's music. Trust me, you're going to love this from beginning to end ".

Prior to the album release the group released a digital single and promo video for the LaBrie / Eden duet No Holy Man on YouTube. An exciting animated video wrapped around the concept depicting the tale of a TV Evangalist living two lives - one of the good book and one of sex, drugs and anything else he can lay his hands on! The video proved a roaring success with views approaching the 40,000 mark.

Elsewhere Andi Deris of German Heavy Metal legends Helloween duets on the bruising Black Widow which is the bands heaviest track to date, somehow managing to marry power and melody perfectly.

Trinity is a classy affair that sees Eden's Curse once again take steps forward and cements their place alongside many of their contemporaries in todays European Melodic Metal scene. After two successful and extremely well received albums and now Trinity, shows Eden's Curse even more improved and powerful than ever before.
